Rheumatoid Arthritis
After suffering with chronic pain for over two years, I
was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. That is when my
depression set in. I started to gain weight. I developed
allergies and insomnia. Overall, my symptoms got worse and
it was all I could do to crawl out of bed, yet alone walk
standing straight. My job kept me sitting at a desk for eight
to ten hours a day. I had gained about 25 pounds from inactivity
and this just made my condition worse. My daughter told me
about a chiropractor that she heard speak and suggested,
rather told me, to make an appointment to see him because
he had helped a friend of hers with her allergies. I had
been to many doctors while living in New York and they all
had the same prescription – they gave me medication
but nothing helped to clear up any of my ailments. I also
had many surgeries on my shoulders, knees, and feet to relieve
my joints.
The chiropractor gave me a thorough exam on my first visit
and took x-rays of my back. Afterwards, he spend a great
deal of time with me to explain what he thought he could
do to help me and that it would take time because all of
my problems didn’t happen overnight. But, he was sure
he would be able to give me a better quality of life. I will
never forget my first treatment because I was able to breathe
through my nose without the help of sprays or pills. My eyesight
seemed clearer and colors were more vibrant. When I returned
home I went to sleep for the rest of the day and then slept
through the same night. I figured it was worth going to him
just for a good night’s sleep.
With continuous Chiropractic care, all of my physical problems
lessened and I was walking and starting to enjoy life again.
Then I quit coming to see him because I felt so much better.
I started running instead of walking and began sitting at
my desk again for long periods of time. Eventually, all my
symptoms returned – only this time I couldn’t
sit anymore. I could only crawls and lay flat on my back.
Now, after seeing the chiropractor for about six months continuously,
I am able to walk for exercise, lift weights, and I am losing
weight again, developing the muscles in my back and feeling
like life is worth living again. We are hoping that I will
be able to sit for longer periods of time and maybe return
to work at some point in time.
